The production company behind the movie My Love By My Side announced today that it’s original male lead Kwon Sang Woo has quit the movie and broken the verbal agreement that he had given them initially. The production company has thus no alternative but to look for a replacement male lead.
According to a representative from the production company, Kwon Sang Woo has only recently expressed that he would like to drop out of the movie. The representative expressed, “We reached a verbal agreement with Kwon Sang Woo on 23rd September and with filming set to start soon, he has suddenly expressed that he would like to quit the project. As we have already inked the contract with other cast members and production staff, we can’t cancel the entire movie filming. We can only look for a replacement now. Because of Kwon Sang Woo’s decision, the investors and us are likely to incur a huge loss.”
My Love By My Side was to be director Park Jin Pyo’s new movie after having directed You Are My Sunshine and Voice of Murderer. The movie had already generated great interest when Ha Ji Won and Kwon Sang Woo were confirmed as main leads. But some have already questioned whether Kwon Sang Woo was suitable to play the leading man who was suffering from Lou Gehrig’s disease (progressive neurodegenerative disease) as he had a buffed body.
According to sources, Kwon Sang Woo’s sudden u-turn might be due to the fact that he felt that he might not be able to act out this role well.
