MBC Lavishes Special Treatment for East of Eden Opening Week

We are less than a week away for MBC’s big budget drama production of the year “East of Eden” next Monday. It is already creating headlines with it’s special drama scheduling announcement ahead of an important week.

The big budget production “East of Eden” costing 250 KRW will kickoff on 25th August with a special production episode. This will be followed by episodes 1 and 2 (back-to-back) on 26th August, hoping to usher in a good start in the ratings department especially. This special arrangement reminds you of Bae Yong Joon’s “Tae Wang Sa Shin Gi” drama when it started last year.

Having a special episode at the end of a successful rated drama is normal especially in Korea. But there are only a few examples that has a special episode before the start of a drama. “Tae Wang Sa Shin Gi” and “Gourmet” are just one of the few in recent memory. This also reflects how much of an importance MBC is placing on “East of Eden”. But it remains to be seen whether it can achieve the rating success of “Tae Wang Sa Shin Gi” as expected.
