MC Mong Lambasted for Openly Smoking on 1N2D

Update: KBS has issued a statement accepting responsibility for not editing the scene away and was sorry for any inconvenience caused.

MC Mong has come under fire for actually smoking during a program recording. MC Mong who is a permanent host on KBS Happy Sunday “1N2D” variety show was seen smoking during the 6th July episode which was shown in it’s entirety without cuts. This has left his fans feeling really disappointed.

MC Mong had previously said on “1N2D” that he would stop himself from smoking. But this time, he was not smoking outdoors but inside their mini bus which has made fans of MC Mong feeling really disappointed with his actions.

Following the program broadcast, many viewers flooded the official website and left messages, saying that they were mightily disappointed with MC Mong for not keeping his promise and also rebuking the producers of “1N2D” for not taking the appropriate measures in editing this away instead of showing it.

Viewers felt that this smoking scene would have an undesirable effect on underaged children and viewers and MC Mong was a bad role model. Besides, he was smoking in an enclosed area inside the mini bus which would definitely mean that the other members of “1N2D” were taking in second-hand smoke.

At the same time, research have showed that smoking scenes that appear on television has an adverse effect of boosting the number of people taking up smoking. That’s why many tv stations tend to edit smoking scenes away from their shows. Another main talking point is that MC Mong had once expressed that he would quit smoking on a SBS program. I blame the “1N2D” PDs.

  1. Smoking is horrible (and I don’t care how anyone defends it) and as a public figure he should know better. Bad handling overall.

  2. I agree with you akon.
Smoking is horrible & MC Mong should know better.
I mean if his gonna smoke then make sure your not doing where your whole country will see you do it.
Whatever he does on his own time is his business but doing it in front of the cameras is horrible.

Also his smoking in a bus..a bus that is closed windows filled with other ppl. He is passing the smoke off to everyone else.
Now everyone in that bus just second hand smoked because of him & that’s a hazard to lit up something in a small closed space.

The PD & the staff should have known better to step in & tell him not to smoke on the bus because it’s a hazard to everyone & could cause some serious danger.

It’s clear no one was thinking on the show that day.
Bad choices results in Bad consequences.

  3. is he really even smoking?!?!
    that picture isnt very clear..
and why would the PDs not cut it out
    if he was smoking?!?!
    everyone knows thats bad rep!!
i think this article isnt very accurate..
why not post a better picture?!?!

  4. wow.. isn’t everyone overreacting? it’s funny cause everyone is scandalized by the fact that a public figure smoked, not that it’s bad for him. I don’t have anything against smokers( and i’m not smoking^_^) because i think that everybody has the right to choose. As long as it’s legal, why should he hide it?

There are many celebrities that smoke and hide this fact…. and i don’t like the fact that they aren’t showing their true self… it’s like lying.

The only thing i blame him for is that he lied about quitinq, saying on national tv that he would quit smoking and didn’t keep his word. Aw, and for smoking in the bus…hope that window next to him is wide open

  6. aw mong.. bad example! haha but a lot of kids really do watch the show im sure.. and he’s letting everyone else second hand which makes it all the worst.. well, smokings hard to quit, and he’s learned his mistake.. hopefully. if he does it a second time that would just.. gah.. haha

  7. THAT’S HORRIBLE. SMOKING IS NOT COOL AT ALL. IF HE WAS DECIDED AND PROMISED TO STOP SMOKING HE MUST KEEP HIS PROMISE EVEN THOUGH THAT’S HARD.
AND HOW CAN HE SMOKE IN THE CLOSED ROOM INSIDE THE BUS THE AIR CONDITIONER MUST BE ON. SO THE REST WILL BE GOT THE BAD EFFECT FROM PASSIVE SMOKER, THAT WILL WORSE THAN THE SMOKER IT SELF.
I HOPE MONG WILL GET LESSON FROM TIS AND REALLY DECIDED TO STOP.
HE GAVE A BAD FIGURE TO ANOTHER PEOPLE.

  8. I’m glad the PDs didn’t cut it out. Hopefully Mong will stop smoking for real this time.

  9. Well i’m sure MC mong totally knows how bad it is to smoke..and well i think all the fans should get a life first instead of finding someone smoking in the back of a van -_- and bashing him !!

  10. well well well…i was surprised. i don’t mind ppl smoking, just don’t throw your butt out on the streets, and don’t smoke near kids. Adults are adults for their own behavior.

going back to the show…there you go! behind the scenes of 1n2d. i bet lotsa staff smoke too…who knows maybe the pd did it on purpose?

  11. oh man. its only smoking yo. dnt need to get so worked out. i dnt understand these people. im not saying its cool to smoke but its seriously no big deal.

seriously, people in th production industry mostly smokes.

  12. I don’t care if he smokes but he shouldn’t have smoked in a confined area where there are people, which could ultimately caused chronic diseases to the unfortunate passive smokers in long term basis.

  13. MEGA OVERREACTION!!! xS, Yea he should mind his promises and have a man’s word with the company and crew, but geesh they’re acting like he was caught doing something indecent like partying till dawn at a nightclub with women or something.

  14. guys you dont understand.. even the PD was sorry that he didnt remember to cut it.. it was mistaken now to cut it… CHEOSO HAMNIDA
