On Air in a Nutshell in Numbers

Since it’s first broadcast on 5th March, SBS “On Air” drama has been invoking the interest of viewers with it’s interesting genre. “On Air” presented the relationships between screenwriters, directors, big stars and their managers, mirroring reality as much as possible, creating topics for viewers to discuss.

All good things must however come to an end with it’s final episode tonight. Before that, let us first view the drama in a nutshell using numbers.

Highest Rating was 25.6% (excluding final episode)

“On Air” Episode 19 shown on 8th May was the highest rated episode with 25.6%. In this episode, PD Lee Kyung Min (Park Yong Ha) touching kissing scene with screenwriter Seo Young Eun (Song Yun Ah) got viewers heart pulsing. Will “On Air” final episode surpass the 30% mark with it’s last throw of the dice tonight? We will know the answer tomorrow morning.

4-way Relationship

The four main leads in “On Air” Lee Kyung Min (Park Yong Ha), Seo Young Eun (Song Yun Ah), Oh Seung Ah (Kim Ha Neul) and Jang Ki Joon (Lee Bum Soo) played out a confusing relationship on screen most of the time, especially in the earlier to middle part of the drama which got fans confused where it was heading. With neither of them expressing their feelings rather concretely, most fans were kept curious and on the edge of their seats wondering and wondering who would end up with who. But with the drama nearing it’s conclusion, their relationships have significantly been drawn out and most fans are expecting to see a happy ending for all.

With an amazing 28 stars making cameo appearances throughout the drama, how could “On Air” not make headlines? The number of stars making appearances included Lee Hyo Ri, F.T Island, Seo Kyung Suk, Yoon Hyun Jin, Kim Ji Su, Jeon Do Yeon, Yoon Ki Won, Lee Chun Hee, Jeon Hye Bin, Park Shi Yeon, Kim Min Joon, Kang Hye Jung, Uhm Ji Won, Lee Seo Jin, Song Chang Il, Jung Chan Woo, Shin Dong Wook, Lee Dong Kyu, Kim Jae Dong, Kim Jung Eun, Min Seo Hyun, Yoon Se Ah, Kim Sung Min, Hines Ward. Extended by one, total 21 episodes

“On Air” original plan was to film 20 episodes but there was once talk that it would be extended by 3 because of its good ratings. However it was eventually decided at just one additional episode.

PD Shin Woo Chul and screenwriter Kim Eun Suk 4th collaboration

They started collaborating in 2004 with “Lovers in Paris”, 2005 with “Lovers in Praque” and finally 2006 with their “Lovers” drama.
