Hyun Bin and Song Hae Hyo teams up in On Air copycat?

Korean actress Song Hae Gyo will return to the small screen for the first time in four years after being confirmed as the female lead in KBS2TV drama, “The World That They Live In”. Hyun Bin will play her love interest.

Hyun Bin and Song Hae Gyo

Since “Full House” in 2004 with Rain, Song Hae Gyo has not appeared in any dramas but concentrated on making movies like “Blue Alert” and “Hwang-Jini”. The new drama will be directed by Pyo Min Soo and viewers are concerned whether he can replicate his rating success from “Full House”.

And just like SBS drama “On Air”, “The World That They Live In” will also show viewers how television dramas are produced. According to someone from the production team, it will be different from “On Air” which focused more on the lives of directors, cast, etc. “The World That They Live In” however concentrates more on how a drama is being made from start till the end.

Song Hae Gyo plays a female producer who has immense confidence and will play opposite Hyun Bin who is a television producer himself in the drama. The drama will show viewers the conflicts that goes into producing dramas and the tireless work that production staff has to go through. Talented Korean actress Bae Chong Ok has also been confirmed for the drama besides them.

The drama starts filming in June and will be shown in November.

  1. Since I’m not watching On Air, it’s ok with me. I like the casting here more lol 😀

  2. Awesome, almost miraculous, casting but WHY? WHY? WHY? did they have to copy On Air?! It makes me so mad when they have awesome actors cast in a drama with a terrible script or concept.

By the way, coolsmurf…Awesome make-over of your site. It looks tight. ^^

  3. First it is nice to hear some familiar faces returning to the small screen, but as a korean viewer i am extremely disappointed with this so called “production… What is this? it is basically rip off of on air.. and for those that go, NO its different, this is about how a drama is produced… WTF!?! once again there is no difference, this production is without a doubt a copy of on air, and to be honest, I highly doubt that this drama will be a success like full house since it lacks originality first of all, and second the competition this drama faces is intense.. Just to let the other ppl know, there is ANOTHER drama about broadcasting done by Son Ye Jin and some other cast members.. Once again a copy of on air but whatever… all let the ratings do the talk 🙂

  4. I love how people just latch onto plot lines that do well and copy..There was once a phase where dramas about cooking and chefs were the thing, now there are too many dramas about TV and media productions.

“On Air” is my one and only though! ^_^

I disagree with another commenter. I don’t think this is good casting. They don’t look good together at ALL. Except for Song Yun Ah’s role, I think On Air did a great job casting. I can definitely see Hyun Bin in that role, but Song Hye Kyo as a producer and opposite Hyun Bin?? They just don’t fit. I’m not anticipating this drama.

Btw, Alvin, I love the new banner! ^_^

  5. I’m confused!

The post title sound uncertain of the drama and its casting (with the ?), the post sound very firmed of the 2 leads will join this production.

I’m taking it as a YES.

  6. I’m thrilled to read the news about the casting of Hyun Bin & Song Hye Kyo in a new drama. They look very compatible together. I believe they’ll have great chemistry! I really can’t wait to watch them together on the TV screen.

  7. gosh, why do all k-dramas just copy and copy and copy all the time. OK, so ‘On Air’ was good, but do we have to see another show like On Air again. why cant there be something different now???? We have Spotlight which resembles On Air and now, we have this one??! gahhhh, im going crazy! like how they say all the time in On Air, c’mom, viewers are not stupid, they will not enjoy the same thing three times in a row…something different please? how about something similar to autumn love/stairway to heaven….um i haven’t seen that in a long time…
