MBC announced today that East of Eden will be extended by 4 episodes.

In Episode 40 shown last night, Min Hye Rin who was supposed to have romantic entanglements with the two brothers, Lee Dong Wook and Dong Chul, leaves for America where she will be stationed as an overseas news correspondent. This effectively marks the departure of Lee Da Hae.

The East of Eden production company were in discussions with MBC higher-ups yesterday over the possible extension of the drama by 8 episodes.

Even as Boys Before Flowers obtained its highest rating last night, the amount of absurd looking CG (computer graphics) used were slammed by viewers.

Just 2 more episodes and that’s it for Lee Da Hye in East of Eden. In episode 40 which will be shown on 13th January, her character Min Hye Rin will embark for overseas studies in America and effectively marking the exit of Lee Da Hye in a natural manner. In the 2nd-last week of 2008, Lee Da Hye had shockingly announced her departure from the drama due to health reasons.
