The latest news from Group Eight is that the Korean version of Hana Yori Dango will be broadcasted on KBS2TV this coming December 2008.
It has been a pretty frustrating wait for fans as they keep getting conflicting news about the drama. After earlier news that it would be shown in 2009, fans are holding back on the latest announcement by Group Eight.
According to Group Eight, “The Korean version of Hana Yori Dango will make it’s debut by end-December on KBS 2TV in the Mon-Tue timeslot as a mini-series. We will not disappoint the expectations of fans and will offer something totally different from the Taiwanese and Japanese drama adaptations.”
So if things go as planned, the Korean version of Hana Yori Dango will debut right after “The World That They Live In” starring Song Hae Gyo and Hyun Bin ends it’s run. It’s a pity that we still don’t know who will be in it.
I thought Kim Hyun Joong will be portraying Hanazawa Rui for the Korean version? Oo ttuk kkae?
nah…that was just a rumor…but he would have been great for the part… i just hope the cast is worth watching and are able to pull off the acting…cuz a drama with good looking casts but lame acting…it just doesn’t work for me…
my expectations are high for this drama…so hopefully they will be fulfilled!!!
…thing is, the Japanese version is so good that the Koreans have to really work hard to top it…and one more thing, they should get fresh faces too…and about the same age as the characters in the manga if possible…Matsumoto Jun (Tsukasa), Inoue Mao (Tsukushi) and Oguri Shun (Rui)plus Matsuda Shota (Soujiro) and Abe Tsuyoshi (Akira) were all outstanding in said roles…I hope the Korean actors will really get into the characters too…even if their adaptation is totally different from the Taiwanese and the Japanese dramas…
…by the way, Big Bang’s parody of Hana Yori Dango was hilarious… they should just get TOP or Siwon for the Domyoji Tsukasa role and yes, Hyunjoong would make a good Hanazawa Rui and maybe Yoona as Tsukushi.
i agree with megane. i was thinking of big bang’s hana yori dango parody too. it would be great if any of the big bang members would be cast in the korean version. i thought they were hilarious in the parody

Or, contrary to everyone’s expectations, they’ll use totally new people (which may be why there are still no names released as of yet) like they did with Goong.
But anyhow, I’m still looking forward to seeing it ^^
